CONSTELLATIONS ACADEMY

Mastering Constellations: Foundation Training 2019-2020
October 2019 – July 2020 – Violet Hill Studios NW8 9EB

Is it for me? The course is designed for:

Individuals with a curiosity about the world’s deeper movements who are eager for a new way of seeing things. They will get a clear sense of how to read information typically hidden to us, and how to reveal invisible dynamics.

Creatives who are hoping to release new sources of inspiration. In particular they will learn to see their practice as a ‘field’ from which different energies may be drawn closer or separated from.

Psychotherapists & health therapists who wish to add an innovative systemic dimension to their work with individual clients. As well as learning to listen in new ways to client material, they will get discover how to release their clients from unconscious entanglements.

Consultants looking for new tools to expand the range of solutions they can offer to organizations, especially in terms of understanding displacement effects within and across teams, and out into the market.

Professionals who for the sake of their own development are hungry for new ways of expanding their practice. They will be given expert tuition on how to adapt what they learn to their specific context.

What will I be taught?

The course will cover both the outer and inner skills required to master the constellations method.

All of our teaching fits within a specific framework of principles, practice and presence (insert triangular diagram with one at each point of the triangle)

Principles: you will understand the ‘orders’ proposed by Bert Hellinger and more recently extended by others. You will be in taught in an accessible way how systemic thinking connects with the history of philosophy, psychology and psychoanalysis in both its Jungian and Freudian traditions. You will learn how an individual’s physical, mental and emotional health is linked to the secret entanglements to their family system.

Phenomenology: you will hone the capacity to facilitate a constellation without preconception or prejudice. That means turning states of unknowing into insight, using the body as an instrument of resonance, and tuning into the remote signals that a Constellation can emit.

Presence: you will learn how to remain contemplative and centred during the process so that you don’t miss what emerges in the constellation. In particular you will understand how to achieve the composure necessary for containing and directing the strong forces that a Constellation can release. You will also receive tuition on managing your own energies, as well as others and holding the group space with ease.

In summary

You will receive a thorough grounding in the theory that underpins the constellations method as well as how the method sits within the wider context of other therapeutic methods.

You will learn how to conduct an interview with your client, as well as, to listen and sense what is important for the client but not yet visible.

You will be taught how to work with spatial movements in a constellation and understand what they mean. You will also learn to craft constellating sentences that act as invisible keys unlocking important movements within the system and thereby releasing your client from their invisible entanglements.

You will learn both 1:1 (i.e. desk-top) and group constellating methods.

The learning methods include: talks, seminars, small group constellating exercises, whole group constellations, tutorials, workshop attendance and personal reading.

Shape of the course

In our experience learning the constellations method takes time so the course is structured over a full academic year to allow the students to settle into the group and to begin to practice what they have learnt in a supportive environment. The modules are a mix of evenings and weekends. The weekend modules are structured to keep the learning fresh with live external client cases so students don’t have to keep going over the same material. The group will meet on the Friday evening for teaching and then the Saturday will involve a workshop with a series of cases and the Sunday will integrate the live material into the structured teaching and practice sessions. The weekday evenings will be a mixture of theory, practice and facilitation. Through-out the course the components of a constellation will be continually deconstructed and then put back together and demonstrated through the live constellations.
